Katherine was born human. She lost her mother at birth and her father in the war. With his last breath, her father entrusted his daughter to his brother-Colonel Miles Quaritch.
Quaritch accepted this responsibility not as a guardian, but as a duty.
Katherine grew up inside RDA facilities from a very young age, in a world where orders were never questioned and emotions were considered weakness. Quaritch raised her to be fearless, disciplined, and obedient-a soldier shaped by command. But her life was not limited to training grounds. She spent much of her time among scientists, learning about the Avatar program, Pandora's ecosystem, and Na'vi biology far beyond what someone her age should know.
When she reached adolescence, an avatar body was created specifically for her. It allowed Katherine to operate on Pandora using a Na'vi body controlled by a human mind. From that moment on, she lived between two worlds:
one of steel walls, weapons, and strict commands;
and another of breathing forests and living soil.
As the time she spent in her avatar body increased, Pandora slowly became more than just a mission zone. The forest responded to her presence. Her body felt, her instincts awakened, and something within her began to answer. Still, Katherine followed orders-until one mission led her deep into the forest, where she encountered Neteyam.
That encounter became the first true fracture in Katherine's life.
