One night when Derek's overly large and demanding family shows up early for their yearly visit, they run into Stiles, who is accidentally introduced as Derek's boyfriend.

Derek's first year in college brings a lot of feelings about Stiles to the surface as his friends convince him to go to parties and try. . . some new things. Stiles and his brother, Spencer, were similar in a lot of ways, for starters they were identical twins. They were both stubborn and sarcastic, they liked the same music, had a lot of the same friends growing up, and now they liked the same guy. Derek Hale didn't expect to get twins for roomates and he definitely didn't expect to find them so attractive. He tries his best to keep the brothers at arms length as he's been hurt too many times before. However he finds himself falling for one of them, only he's not sure which one. He's not close enough to them to remember who is who and they often trade places for the sake of their grades. Stiles and Spencer struggle to keep from letting a guy come between them while Derek struggles to figure out exactly which twin he's falling for.

Stiles and Derek have an agreement, a gentleman’s agreement, if you will. And it’s actually worked out quite nicely, on multiple occasions, in fact. The agreement being that if the situation should arise where it would be necessary to have a significant other close by, they would step in and pretend to be that significant other.

When a triskelion appears on Stiles' skin one day, he's perplexed to find out that it means he's destined to be an emissary, but not just any emissary, the emissary of the alpha who's mark he bears, Derek Hale. The only problem is, he hardly knows the guy and doesn't trust him. Stiles keeps the mark a secret, hoping to prevent the inevitable. Meanwhile Derek is fighting a battle he can't hope to win and finds himself being drawn to the spastic human that reminds him too much of a past he'd rather forget. Stiles lives on his family's cattle farm, 60km away from the small country town called Beacon Hills, with his father and their farm hands Scott, Boyd and Parrish Derek lives on the run, he's been doing it for five years. He drives the country side in his old beat up Toyota, doing farm and station work so he could earn enough money for fuel and food to stay alive. Never staying anywhere longer than a week, laying low and keeping his head down. That was his system. Derek receives a text from an unknown number. He expected the number to stop texting him after the mishap but it turns out the boy just doesn't stop. Stiles knows he should stop texting Derek but he feels like he can't. He feels compelled too. Soon it just becomes routine. Maybe the accidental texts are the best ones.
