She was supposed to be his job. Not his obsession. Octavia is as fiery as they come, a raging ball of teenage hormones. She's stubborn, unpredictable and full of rage she doesn't quite know what to do with. Clarke takes no shit from anyone. He's mean, with a fuse shorter than a matchstick and a temper to match. As a ruthless leader of the mafia, he always gets the job done-swiftly, without complications. Until now. Clarke's been given the order from above: bring Octavia to his boss-alive. She's just a girl. Sharp-tongued, fiery, and unpredictable...but still a girl. How hard could it be? Octavia's not planning on making it an easy ride-far from it. In fact, she'll do everything in her power to throw his perfect life into chaos and disruption at every turn. But soon secrets begin to unravel, secrets that tie them together in ways they never could have imagined. Clarke's past is dark. But Octavias? It could just burn them both to the ground. **** There's a beat of silence, as we both wait for the other to speak. "I'm supposed to hate you," I whisper, trying to convince myself. But nothing could be further from the truth. "There's a very fine line between love and hate, princess," he traces a finger down my neck to my collarbone. My skin heats in the wake of his touch. My body leans in to him, a part of me lapping up every bit of attention he's wiling to give. "This is such a bad idea." My voice is so quiet, it can barely be heard. "The worst," he agrees with a cocky grin. And then his lips are on mine again. Ravishing and relentless, like he's trying to steal the very breath from my lung's. ****

"I hate you. Why would I want your help?" Shrugging off his hand, I moved away from him. He sighed softly, patiently. "No, you don't hate me. And you need me." "Get out of my head." His eyes started to smile before his mouth stretched in one of its own, slowly. "I'm not in your head." He wasn't smug, my mate was never smug, but his gaze held triumph. He wasn't reading my mind, and I had just confirmed what he knew all along. "Shut up. Don't look at me like that." He chuckled and it landed right in my belly. Stupid, stupid heart. I needed out. Out of this place and more importantly, out of his presence. It only served to distract me when I needed to stay determined. "You're mine, love. Don't bother running. I have the means and the will to find you. And I always will find you." Considered as both cursed and blessed with immense power, Daria learns to live with the hatred of the source of that power, and chooses to survive on the love of her people-of course that doesn't include Alpha Micah, who only seems to tolerate her at best. One day, everything changes and Daria is forced to flee her homeland. As she adapts in her life as a human, she makes friends. She even falls in love. She grows confident, enjoys life again. But nothing is permanent. One fateful night sends an earthquake through her life and a discovery that she refuses to accept. And her world collapses and brings her to her knees yet again. But she is strong now. She will fight. He may be her mate, but he won't have her that easily.
