"Oh whatever. You could do betta than me, anyway." Race told me. It looked like he was only half joking. "Higgins, don't you dare say that. I can only think of one guy better than you. It's my brudda, and I have to think he's the best guy alive. I owe 'im that much after he raised me, don't I?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In which the beautiful girlsie Y/N "Quick" Kelly falls for a gambling, cigar loving newsie called Race. Especially with Y/N as co-president of the union, will their blossoming romance find a place among the dangerous newsboy strike of 1899?

"Jack why's do I have ta come?" Race questions. "Because Racer, your my second which means you have ta come ta meetings and that includes Brooklyn." It's not that Race didn't like Brooklyn, he loved Brooklyn, he even sold his papers in Brooklyn, but the leader of Brooklyn terrified him in many ways. He was terrified of Spot physically and romantically. Race had seen Spot a few times and saw him during the strike, Race had fallen hard for this Brooklyn boy, but so many things could go wrong if Spot or anyone else found out about it. " Ace! Hotshot!" Spot yells. "Be ready by the time Jack Kelly gets here!" Spot yells again. To say the least Spot was nervous, he wasn't nervous of Jack, but he had heard rumors that Jack's second was coming with him. Spot new for a fact that Jack's second was Racetrack Higgins, the boy that Spot lets sell on his turf, the boy that he made laugh in the court room, the boy he had fallen in love with. Of course nobody can know about it, the things that they would do to Spot is the unthinkable. This is also kind of a musical, some of the Newsies will sing songs, some won't. I do not own any Newsie characters except Spike. I do not own any of the songs either. This is A sprace story if you haven't figured that out by now. I try to have two chapters in each week, might be more than that, might be less than that, just depends how my schedule's look. Some chapters are pretty short others are long. Racetrack Higgins, a Manhattan Newsie. Spot Conlon's best friend and crush, not that they would admit that they have crushes on each other. No one knows about Racetrack's past, and not many people bothered to ask, until he started babying scars. He refused to tell them, but when Spot, then Race himself, gets kidnapped one day, how will they find and save Race and Spot? He'd be forced to tell them his past. Josephine Carter became the first and only female Newsie when she ran away from her family at the age of ten because they didn't love her. Jack Kelly found her and took her in, treating her as his little sister. That's when she became a part of the newsie family. Granted, the guys did sometimes get on her nerves but they respected her just like they would anyone else. But when the price of the newspapers rise, it creates trouble for Josephine and the boys. It seems like things are becoming impossible, that winning the strike is impossible. When she meets a certain feared leader from Brooklyn, she starts to think that some things may not be impossible after all. . . . What could possibly make Spot so shaken up he'll hand over Brooklyn? What could make Jack so shaken he'd give up Manhattan? Only one thing: Race and David have been taken. But where? How? Why? But why do they care so much about them? Well, first we need to go back to the beginning. We need to go on their journey with them. From their first meeting, to working side by side in the strike, to growing closer and falling in love, and all the things in between, dealing with the problems their kinds face in the unforgiving world. But the whole thing is bigger than all of them. This isn't a fight for just Newsies anymore--it's a fight for love, family, friends, rights for all, and the fight for the right to exist in a world like this and the right to tell those stories. But can they fight all these fights and finish them Once and for All? (I DON'T OWN NEWSIES. NONE OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE MINE. ONLY THE STORY IS MINE.) Racetrack Higgins is many things: a newsie, a gambler, witty, and smart. And he also wasn't born a boy. He can count the number of people who know that fun fact on one hand. It's a struggle to live as a boy while trying to make sure no one knows where he came from. Luckily, he has Jack to help him--a guy who wasn't born a guy, just like him. And he has Spot, who he may or not have feelings for, and who may or may not have more in common with him than he thinks. But this world is dangerous for people like Race. So he just needs to stand tall, and find his place in this dangerous world. Please, no homophobia, transphobia, profanities, slurs, hate etc. I DON'T OWN ANY OF THESE CHARACTERS. THEY ALL BELONG TO DISNEY. THIS STORY ALONE IS MINE.
