Making a deal with the God of Sleep wasn't exactly on my bingo card, but neither was getting caught up in a sacrificial ritual. The four men in masks saved me only to bring me to their own church of worship, telling me I can't go home because of the debt I owe. But a pact made long ago with the God and the one they call Vessel has me questioning my trust in them, especially when the standoff-ish Vessel of Sleep, the leader of the group, seems to know something I don't. The only way to learn the truth is to delve deeper into their lives, digging up my own buried past along with it... This is a slow burn romance mystery. Warning ⚠️: talk of suicide, murder, self harm and abuse along with sexual content. I also use swear words occasionally Word count: 85,661 Sequel: Telomeres

She tries to ignore the dreams, but she never was one to let things go. The odd dreams lead her to a commune named Eden in the idyllic English countryside, where all those who live there worship a strange deity, and have even stranger acts of worship. Ava, a talented photographer, agrees to cover a concert for the rising band Sleep Token. Little did she know that her encounter with the enigmatic lead singer, Vessel, would leave her questioning reality and change her forever. This is my first story. As you tread through the words I've written, remember: Nothing is true, everything is permitted. While this story draws inspiration from a band rooted in reality, I think of them as mere phantoms, characters of my design, so I can shape their destiny as I see fit. We will not discuss any real identity in this story, and I do not recommend you pursue that, respecting their wish to remain anonymous. Disclaimer: This story has +18 content. Don't read it if you're not +18.

I shakily reached for his hand and he stood, gently pulling me up with him. My gaze bounced between each of the six eyes on the mask and I got frustrated, wanting to make real eye contact with him. Vessel noticed my slight scowl and paused for a second before wearily pushing his hood back and unbuckling his mask, letting it fall to rest in his other palm. His long, shaggy black hair fell immediately into his eyes, blocking my line of sight to a majority of his face. I lean slightly away from him. "Are... Are you sure?..." I didn't want him to feel pressured to show me who he was, but I was dying to see the real him. "Promise you won't panic...?" That took me aback. Panic? Why? I furrowed my brows, confused. I nodded. "Yeah, why would I pa-" He tilted his head up and brushed his hair from his face. Six. There were still six. I panicked.
