Orion Lightwing is the latest to take up the mantle, stationed at the lonely, high-altitude Star-Gazer's Outpost. His life is one of quiet discipline-until the night a constellation he's been tracking for years simply extinguishes. When Orion flies to the capital to warn the Princesses, he finds that a strange, creeping apathy is infecting the ponies of Equestria; as the stars disappear, so does the ponies' ambition and "spark." Because Orion spends his time so far above the clouds, he is one of the few immune to the effect.
