When Charlie Miller loses her job the week before both her roommates move to California, she decides it's time to get out of Texas. But with her bank account embarrassingly empty and her newly divorced parents living thousands of miles apart, she doesn't know where to go. And then she remembers Fisher. The small lakeside town in Idaho where she spent every summer until she was eighteen at her uncle's cabin. It's the last place she was truly happy, so the day Gaby and Tay move out, Charlie packs up her car and embarks on the 1,800-mile drive. She has no idea what to expect when she gets there: her uncle sold the cabin six years ago, after all, and the last time she was there she was surrounded by her cousins. This time around she is alone, and she is lonely. When she revisits the old cabin, it's pure nostalgia. Until she is caught by the neighbor. Who just happens to be the most beautiful woman Charlie has ever seen. She is smitten, instantly, and all of a sudden her trip to Fisher has a purpose. The only problem: Lou is almost twenty years older, she has a teenage daughter, and Charlie's pretty sure she's straight. But the more time they spend together, the less sure Charlie is, and when a freak event throws them together, there's only one way to find out. After all, she's only here for two weeks and then she has to figure her life out. She has nothing left to lose. © Elle Carrigan 2023

When aspiring writer Marcie is hired as the personal assistant to her all-time favorite author, Rosalind Lindbergh, she expects to be learning the ins and outs of the industry - not fending off red-hot feelings that aren't exactly "workplace appropriate." Season 1 of Romancing The Writer *** Willing to do anything to prove she has it together, unemployed writer/perpetual screw-up Marcella Harper somehow manages to land her second-place dream job: personal assistant to her personal hero, best-selling author Rosalind Lindbergh. Brutally dumped less than 24 hours after her first day, Marcie discovers that there may be no better distraction than her new job ... and new boss. After all, Marcie has had a crush on über-famous, ultra-hot Roz since high school. And - although she promised Marcie their relationship was strictly professional - Roz might just be returning her awkward, bumbling advances. When lines begin to blur and career prospects end up on the line, Marcie is sure of one thing: either she gives up on her dreams, or her dream woman. "You know, they have tutorials online for this kind of thing," I tell her. "You know, I hired a personal assistant for this kind of thing," she retorts. And then, we both stand there, awkwardly close. We watch the coffee sputter, then begin to pour. Neither of us utters a word. And, when it's done pouring, neither of us reach for it. "Are you ... not gonna take your coffee?" I finally ask. It's quiet. Tentative. "Oh. Right."

They never really stopped talking. Not when the distance grew. Not when one of them fell in love with someone else. And not even when everything in between said they should let go. But love-real love-doesn't always leave. Sometimes, it just waits. Quietly. Softly. In the in-between. By: Slothy Space 2025
