Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. In more casual speech, by extension, "philosophy" can refer to "the most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group". The word "philosophy" comes from the Ancient Greek (philosophia), which literally means "love of wisdom".The introduction of the terms "philosopher" and "philosophy" has been ascribed to the Greek thinker Pythagoras. A "philosopher" was understood as a word which contrasted with "sophist". Traveling sophists or "wise men" were important in Classical Greece, often earning money as teachers, whereas philosophers are "lovers of wisdom" and were therefore not in it primarily for the money. In my English class we were told we had to make our own Philosophy. I, being young and inexperienced in life, found the subject very difficult. I thank wikipedia.org for this definition as I could not describe it better myself. This is the "published" version of the essay/small book I have written in my English class. I hope you enjoy. This story is dedicated to my family for loving me, and my friends for putting up with me. I love you all. Thank you.

I hope you enjoy this book! XD!

While in college I had a friend who was struggling in philosophy, and asked me for help. I gradually just took it over (yes I know I'm not supposed to do that, but I really like the subject, she was really struggling, and I'm kinda picky). Anyway, I decided to keep copies of the essays (I mean, I did put a lot of work into them), she passed the class, and we all went home happy. This essay is on the differing viewpoint of Rene Descartes and John Locke, and also covers the mindset that the general mainstream society has adopted today.

The Universe Revealed is my attempt to discuss more thoroughly the main questions that we humans should ask about our existence, our universe and our place in it. These are mostly my thoughts on science, religion and philosophy as it applies to the human condition. My first book, The Theory of Nothing, covered many subjects. This book will be more specific to the big questions about life and what it means.
