Hiccup was five years old when he was snatched up by a Night Fury in a raid and was never seen again. 15 years later, Berk is on another hunt for the nest, but things go wrong when a storm hits and the Chief, his wife and Gobber are stranded in an icy wasteland. While searching for shelter they're ambushed by dragons and taken to a mysterious place where they find someone who they never thought they'd see again.

Hiccup Haddock III was sick and tired of his life. He was tired of getting pitied glances everywhere he went. He was sick of overhearing conversations about how ashamed his father must feel of him. But all that changed when he was given the privilege to kill a Monstrous Nightmare. He couldn't kill it, though. He wouldn't. He couldn't betray his only friend. The one being that didn't judge him. So he ran away. Ran away from his family and his home. Everyone thought he was dead, but when a mysterious dragon rider comes back to Berk with news, the visit doesn't go very well. The Berkians are Vikings; it's in their nature to be stubborn and they don't take too kindly to strange masked visitors that ride Night Furies. Hiccup and Toothless left Berk thinking no one cared. Being the neglected child of Berk (despite his family, and being the heir to the village), Hiccup decided he'd had enough. He took Toothless and his most treasured belongings and high-tailed it out of there. When he runs into his long-lost mother, life looks up for Hiccup. He's found a place where he belongs. Meanwhile, on Berk, the village assumed Hiccup was dead by a Night Fury's doing and left it at that. Astrid and her friends, however, didn't think such. When a surprise trip overseas and an unfortunate turn of events allows the Berkians to find an odd nest in the middle of nowhere, they may prove that the lost heir to Berk isn't as dead as everyone thinks. //story takes a turn for the worse like halfway through bc i stopped editing it. also i wrote it when i was like 11-12

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the son of the chief of Berk Stoick the vast. He was considered the runt, weakling.... failure of the village.
