He try to step back, your breath hitched, you reach out to him in dread, "Don't--!" You yelled in fright. He flinched. You quickly raised your hands up to resure him, trying to soften your voice, "Please, don't move. You are stepping on an old bear trap." You spoke more softly, breathless from the previous running season you two had. You heard his whimper causing yout heart to twist. You move a step forward, using a sweat tone, "I can help you. It will be okey. I am not a treat, I promise." You reach out but before you can do anything he flinch back on reflex. Your eyes widen with the sound of rusty metal joints groan with a snap, following by a loud scream. The trap is activated...

A spin off novel from my No Shadow Like Yours 2-book series, dedicated to the one and only Sweet Shadow. You might have to read the other books for context and more information, but it's not required. Shadow was sent to Earth by Maria, but not on some grand mission or with something to achieve. He was all alone, no longer with his best friend or the scientists he memorized or the blank forts he loved so much. Stranded in a strange world with so much noise and colors. On this planet, he meets a hedgehog much like himself, named Sonic, who is kind and gentle and welcomes Shadow into his friend group with open arms and a wide smile as bright as the sun itself.
