"Listen to me Qurratul Ayn, before you go, I want to know; did I ever offend you? Is my love for you too little?" I can feel his hand hovering over mine. He wants to hold it, but he knows better than to do that. "Please, I don't want to do this now. My flight is in thirty minutes." I can feel the tears wetting my Niqab. "No! I want to know. Where did I go wrong? Was it money? I didn't feed you well? I didn't clothe you? My love wasn't enough for you? I need to know, all those years! You're seriously willing to throw them away like they were nothing?" A sob breaks out but I manage to hide it behind a cough. I take a silent deep breath and turn, my Niqab swaying and making a whip sound. "It's not like, they really were nothing! Look, I don't have it in me to explain myself. You said you'd give me whatever I want? Then leave me be. I never loved you okay! I never did, it was all a sham, a facade!" His hand that was looming over mine falls limp beside him and he staggers back. "You're lying." He laughs. It's as if he's trying to convince himself. I scoff. "You think so? Well take a look at this." His eyes fill with tears and he takes one of his hands and place it on his mouth. He can't believe that it's actually true. "Okay, Fa'iza." My heart breaks. He never calls me that, ever. "I know something is wrong, and wallahi I'm going to find it out and bring you back to my house in six months. I promise." I feel my heart squeeze knowing his promise can never come to pass, ever. Death is nearing me so nothing can be done. Absolutely nothing. * Ten years of loving, doting over each other and marriage, Fa'iza upped and suddenly said she wanted out of the marriage. After months of persuasion and blackmail, Bello let her go, but before she left, he made a promise. Would he be able to fulfill this promise? STARTED: COMPLETED:

The sky was painted dark.Very Dark with no bright stars.A gush of wind swirled past us making me inhale softly. The large man besides me leaned against the iron railing. His eyes fixed ahead of us as if seeing something that I couldn't. A lone tear slid down my cheek as I brushed it off rather harshly.Finding my voice I spoke softly remembering a distinct and beautiful memory, "After you left I once asked Mama when you would come back. She stayed silent for a minute and then she answered that when you'll miss me you'll be back" Another tear rolled down my cheek and this time I didn't brush it.My light brown eyes stared at his handsome face, seeing him look down at this hands. His face constricting into something I could not decipher. "And I was a fool to believe her that day because now I know I was the only one waiting. " My words were bitter but I whispered softly. Turning around I left leaving the man to his own thoughts. Wearing that bridal dress again is a disaster for her because of the crippling guilt. He asks her to wear her nikkah dress if she wishes to meet her parents. Perhaps he is looking out to make a point to them that now she was his. He enters the room and finds her standing near the window, Cladded in her bridal dress which was enough as a mark to tell everyone that she is his. She turns around. For the first time today, he doesn't find the hatred seeping into his eyes for her. Instead, her shining green orbs seems hurt. "Why did you make me wear this dress again?" She inquires. He shrugs his shoulders confidently. "To make a point in front of your family that you are mine and no one, including them, is allowed to mess up with what's mine." "What am I supposed to do then?" "You are now going to stay at your parents's place till I get my own family to accept our nikkah, which they will do eventually. Then they will come to your house, meet your parents and we'll get married in a proper ceremony. You got a promise from me to get the status, respect, and honor of my wife from everyone, and you'll ultimately get that," he informs her truthfully. "What will you tell my parents about all this? And what am I supposed to inform them? And..." She trails off when something hit her mind. She quickly looks back at him. "Don't tell me that you will put the total blame on me. That...that I fled from my house to marry you." "I am not a coward who would ask a woman to leave whatever she had behind to marry me. I loved you openly. I married you openly too. And I'll make you get the status of my wife openly and fearlessly too. I ain't a scared loser who would hide myself behind a woman. I'll tell everyone the truth," he almost roars. She doesn't know why she liked whatever he spoke even though it is wrong on so many levels. Start Date: 06.06.2024 End Date: 23.11.2024
