Winifred "Winnie" Bones, the daughter of wizarding world baker, Amelia Bones. Winnie is expected to have magic in her hands. Instead, she's the family disappointment, a girl whose soufflés collapse and whose potions barely simmer. She lives in a home of stifling perfection, and tragic family history.
Then there is Fred Weasley.
He is loud, he is reckless, and he is everything Winnie has been taught to avoid. To her mother, he's a nuisance; to the Ministry, he's a hazard. But to Winnie, he's intoxicatingly free. While her mother sees a disappointment, Fred sees a partner-in-crime. But as the atmospheric pressure of the Wizarding World begins to drop and the shadows of the past return to haunt the present, Winnie must decide if she'll stay hidden behind her mother's kitchen and the tragic family history, or if she'll finally follow the boy who promises that life is much better when you're making a mess.

"My mother says life is about the perfect crust, Weasley. It's supposed to be golden, flaky, and completely unbreakable."
"Well, Winnie," Fred grinned, leaning over her with a mischievous glint in his eye, "I've always preferred things that make a bit of a mess."
