After a devastating accident claims the lives of her parents, Xara is left alone in the wreckage of a life she no longer recognizes. Grief hollowed her world, and she is certain nothing could ever fill the silence they left behind. She is wrong. A voice begins to call to her from the depths of her dreams-ancient, urgent, and hauntingly familiar. As the visions intensify, reality itself begins to fracture. Shadows stir with purpose. Time falters. And Xara discovers that her sorrow is tied to a truth far more dangerous than she could have imagined. The boundary between worlds is weakening. Drawn into a hidden legacy she never asked for, Xara must confront the mystery of her own existence and the power awakening within her. But destiny is a cruel inheritance, and accepting it means facing the darkness threatening to consume everything she has left-including the fragile connections, unexpected allies, and first stirrings of love that are teaching her how to live again. As night closes in and the fate of the world hangs in the balance, Xara must choose: remain a girl defined by loss... or rise as something far greater. Because if she fails, the light will fall-and the world will be swallowed by eternal night.

When Letitia Sharpe is pursued by her odious guardian, coerced to give him her hand in marriage, she flees to the only friend she has: the dashing Lord Archie Pemberton... her favorite author. Except the man she flings herself onto isn't Lord Pemberton at all, but Robert Lilley, his beleaguered secretary. At first, pretending to be Lord Pemberton-- as Archibald commands-- is a bit of a lark. But then Robert finds he enjoys being able to take the credit for the books he wrote, and quickly realizes Letitia is far more brainy than Lord Pemberton and her guardian both assume. But he knows he can't fall in love with her-- she thinks he's Lord Pemberton, and Lord Pemberton is engaged. But when Letitia's guardian comes to take her away and wed her against her will, and Lord Pemberton's elegant fiance descends on Brook House, the truth will have to come out...

I wasn't reincarnated as the heroine. I wasn't even reborn as the villainess. I woke up as the girl who always stood behind her. Elara Viremont- a side character whose only purpose was to agree, assist, and disappear. But I know this story. I know who betrays whom. I know who survives. And I know exactly how we die. So no, I won't help the villainess bully the heroine. I won't push her toward ruin. And I definitely won't follow a plot written to erase me. If this story wants blood, it will have to rewrite itself first.

"Where are you going little one?" the voice in the Mage's head questions softly. He looks around, wondering if it was his inner speech who asked or someone corporeal. He's still alone, he had been, for a few days now. "North." 453 E.Y. The cloaked figure approaches the town of Bralden steadily. His eyes are aimed at the Keep on its periphery, a structure of stone walls hiding something he had been searching for. A source of more power, most likely. Mayhaps, a conduit for corruption also? Further north, to the distant Grathorn Mountains, the cliffs and crags seem to leer with the arrival of something... something other. They could only shudder in anticipation... for now.
