"Not Just a Secretary" is a chaotic, romantic comedy centered around Jaycee Kim, a broke, dramatic, and very gay 27-year-old Korean secretary living in Australia, who is secretly in love with his oblivious but charming boss, Aizen Lee-a soft-spoken CEO with a heart of gold, a penchant for romance novels, and a long-time girlfriend, Ayesha.
Jaycee constantly tries to win Aizen's affection through petty tricks, exaggerated injuries, and emotional sabotage, while Ayesha-beautiful, smart, and feisty-fights back with sarcasm and possessiveness. Their war for Aizen's attention is full of insults, misunderstandings, and elevator breakdowns. In the middle of it all is Yuan, Jaycee's clingy 19-year-old junior who acts like a protective younger brother (but sometimes flirts), always ready to roast Aizen or call out Ayesha's homophobia.
As the chaos continues, Jaycee's past trauma (especially with the dark) is revealed, which draws Aizen even closer. Eventually, Jaycee and Ayesha make peace (just enough to gang up and bully Aizen together), and Aizen finally confesses his feelings after realizing he's been in love with Jaycee all along.
The group ends up at Ayesha's luxury vacation home, where Jaycee gets his man, Aizen gets his peace (sort of), and Yuan meets his own love interest-Cedric, Ayesha's older brother, a handsome Chinese-Australian who speaks too much Mandarin for Yuan to keep up.
It's loud, messy, gay, and full of heart-with sweet moments buried under insults and love confessions that feel like threats.
