How do you solve a murder when every single suspect has a time machine? Time-travelling police officer Erik Midgard has a problem. He has seen his own future. His fate is set. There is no way out. There is nothing he can do to escape it. He is going to die. But in the meantime, he has a murder to solve. On the moons of Mars, 900 years into the future, the wealthiest men and women in the solar system are arriving for the biggest night in the social calendar. The invitations are exclusively for people rich enough to own their own time machines. It is meant to be the greatest party in history. No one is supposed to die there. But when the guest of honour is found dead after the last dance, Erik and his partner Mirabi find themselves facing the greatest challenge of their careers. Trapped in a luxurious mansion and surrounded by millionaires, lovers, enemies, assassins, terrorists, robot doubles, hidden grudges, secret agendas and a criminal genius plotting his masterpiece, Erik and Mirabi must solve the case before its consequences can explode across the solar system. But as they sift through the evidence and the details of the crime start to appear, Erik finds himself beginning to wonder. Is his destiny truly written in stone? It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. Long before the collapse, they began taking humans, but now, everyone knows who they are and they fear them. The few who manage to return from their captivity tell stories of how these creatures treat humans like animals or children, tending to them like pets or slaves. Most survivors live in hidden cities, avoiding the ancient ruined cities at all costs. But not Jace and his crew. As a group of Stray Humans, they've made the decaying cities their home, roaming the forgotten streets, never staying in one place for long, and bringing all their skills to the table. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost. Warning - This story may have -Self harm -Rape -Abuse -Suicidal thoughts and actions -Violence and gore -Uncomfortable scenes (If this isn't your first alien pet book, you know what I'm talking about)
