The year's 2178. In 2057, the war between the USA and North Korea came at an alarming height. Steven Kerling, former president of the United States, crossed the line when he spoke the following on international television: "North Korea is incapable of doing anything. Their leader might look like a dangerous guy, but in reality, he's the biggest coward the world has ever known. He talks a lot, but there isn't any value in what he's saying. I bet he wouldn't dare to even attack us." North Korean leader, Kim Minho, proved him the opposite. The United States were attacked and conquered. The rest of the world followed. In 2078, an apocalypse happened. America, north and south, was wiped off the earth, together with Australia and western Europe. This event is remember each year at the 8th of June. North Korea now rules over what's left of the world. The leader, Choi Min Jun, is a very severe man. He tries to keep the country as it is. And he's not afraid of any punishment. Any criminal that gets arrested, if it's fair or not fair, will be executed. There's no excuse, there's no way out. And especially, if you are descended from a survivor, from someone who escaped the natural disaster. This is the situation 19 year old Troye Sivan's growing up in. His ancestors survived and moved to Seoul, exactly 100 years ago. He lives a happy life, together with his parents, his two brothers and his sister. He studies at university, and goes out every so often. But when he gets into a manifestation on accident, and that manifestation gets put down by the police, he gets arrested. In prison, he meets the fabulous Tyler Oakley, the brain behind the manifestation, who will turn his world upside down.

It's just too easy to expect that self-proclaimed homophobes (like Troye Sivan) and a homosexuals themselves (like Tyler Oakley) could never get along. However, he soon discovers that the housemates he is put up against are some of his closest friends. One is even a little more than a friend. Troye was just typical high school kid. The only difference was that while the rest of his classmates lived life to the "fullest", he preferred to live his life online. A complete internet addiction, more interested in food than friends, and a severe disinterest in social interaction seemed perfectly normal in his mind, but set him apart severely from the rest of the reality he lived in. Though everyone else was finding dates or hooking up right and left, Troye was content as long as he could keep on a poker face and keep to the shadows. Who needs love when you have a couple of friends and some wifi? But when friendship finds his way through tumblr, one ask may change his life forever.

AU: in which Tyler and Troye are as different as can be, but somehow fit together like two parts of a whole. Their lives come together with a tad bit of scheming on Tyler's part, and more than a tad bit of flirting on Troye's.
