I cover my mouth. The sensation of his lips against mine is still very apparent, real, earth-shattering. Shaken, my voice peels out from beneath my fingers, "Did you just-" "Yeah.." He grips the back of my head, threads his long, nimble fingers through my unruly hair and draws me closer to his face, "I kissed you." He removes my hand from my mouth, pads my bottom lip with his thumb, "Mind if I do it again?" "You may not." Hero has her fair share of issues. She holds conversations with kitchenware, works as a phone sex operator (while lacking the proper experience), and ninjas her way into boy's restrooms. But her problems triple the moment she learns that the vacant house across the lane is now occupied with new neighbors. She finds her routine interrupted by a particular boy, her absentee mother making a comeback seventeen years late, her bestfriend blinded by infatuation and her own feelings being tested; could this girl possibly live up to her name and somehow overcome?

What would you do if you got a book that seemed to change every time you read it? All the characters would change, protagonists became antagonists, star crossed lovers became strangers in a crowded street, and your favorite character that found their happy ending during the first read was dead during the second? For Holly Sinclair, she got a book like this. Due to her grandmother's last will and testament, Holly got a book called "The Brown Book". With much reluctance, she finally reads it, and falls in love with it. She goes to read it a second time, nothing goes right. And upon the third time reading it, well, a new character is introduced. An orphaned and injured girl comes to stay with the main character's family during the era of the American Revolution. Life is something Cassandra never gave much thought to. A bad life has brought her up to be a tough teenager. She knows all the bad things that could happen, she's seen it all and done it all. Doesn't care about anyone and no one cares about her, it's what Cassandra is used to. It's all she knows. Everything changes when she makes a bad mistake and gets in trouble with the law. Everything goes downhill, or maybe uphill. Spending twenty-five hours of community service isn't something Cassandra is looking forward to. But what she doesn't know is that in those twenty-five hours her life will completely change. But for the good or the bad?

"Jadelynn Genevieve Berkshire! That's it! I've had it with you and your stints. I'm sending you to live with your father!" my mother had yelled. I had shrugged and said "Whatever." I mean, how many times had she said that? No matter what I did, she never actually sent me to live with my father, until now. I guess using a fake identity to bypass airport security (which my aspiring artist/hacker of a best friend, Cleo, made) to sneak onto One Direction's jet (well actually I got onto the wrong one) to meet Harry Styles and Zayn Malik and being arrested in Australia is the last straw. Oh and did I mention that I was supposed to be attending my Cotillion? Anyways, I didn't really think it through, so now I'm off to live with my father who I haven't seen in 14 years, 11 months and 15 days, but who's counting? Will I be the good perfect little daughter?
