" the old gods were dying " Shadows had followed Annabeth Chase her entire life. They leaked into her dreams and chased her out of her home, causing her to run into two others, Thalia Grace and Luke Castellan, who had the same shadows. They form a small family fueled by secrets and running. But after both Annabeth and Thalia are Selected, their shadows follow them to the palace of Olympia, where they will partake in a competition to win the Prince's heart. The other Selected, which include Piper McLean, Hazel Levesque, and Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, admit to Annabeth that they too have been followed by shadows. Strange dreams plague the Selected, and their shadows seem to be hiding within the people surrounding them. Just as Annabeth slowly starts to fall in love, several murders occur, and several of the Selected fall as victim. Annabeth soon reveals the biggest truth of all: the Selection isn't meant to find love; it's meant to find those who are different. And once they're found, the world may never be the same. The Selected were promised love, and they found it, though not in the expected way. But as darkness falls upon the palace and friends turn on each other, can love save them?

Disclaimer: This is not entirely my work. Credits to Rick Riordan for at least half of the characters (any characters from PJO, HoO, or ToA, and credits to @percabethlover505 for half of the chapters. She did most of the plot, I handled character development. Everything was copy and pasted from our Google Doc, down to the chapter names, and each one has the author at the top of the page. Also, I obviously matured a lot in five years, so while the first chapters are more cliche and light - not to mention a bit cringy - the last chapters are deeper and more interesting, better written and so freaking long) A/N: I love ALL of the characters of the series (shocking! I even think of Luke as a hero, Jason as a good guy and Piper as smart and generous girl!) and my life goes beyond my bf. That being said, I should warn you that you won't find hate for Jason or such in here. I actually keep a list with my chapters so I can equally balance the same amount of POV between all of them(or try to). You'll find small amount of couple actions, but mostly, family interactions, friends, studies, jobs, pet, hobbies and some "me time" for the characters.
