[Book #1 of the 'True Mate' series] "Let her go." Fuma's deep voice breaks through the angry shouts, the group that surrounded Suki now falling quiet. The girl struggles against the two men that were holding her, letting out a small groan as they force her to her knees. "Or what? Do you really believe you'll make it here before I can snap her pretty little neck?" The vampire says with a sneer, standing directly behind Suki. She struggles again, her eyes meeting Fuma's just as a cold hand grips her jaw from behind. Suki catches the way Fuma's eyes flash, a chill running down her spine at the dangerous look in his gaze. "Let her go." He repeats firmly, the vampire chuckling as he puts the smallest bit of pressure against the soft part of Suki's throat. "Or what-" The vampire's hand is gone a second later, Fuma flipping him onto the ground with ease. He bends forward, only stopping when his mouth is neck to the vampire's ear. "Or I'll end your whole bloodline."

[Book #3 of the 'Werewolf' series] "Chin up, pretty lady, your little boyfriend will be here soon." The man says, using the tip of his dagger to lift Yujin's chin. The girl squeezes her eyes shut as the blade breaks the skin just under her jaw, the man grinning at her as he straightens. "You really should try listening, he's not coming." Yujin says softly, her voice cracking on the ends. The man lets out a low chuckle as he turns away, the girl lowering her head so that he couldn't see the fresh tears that threatened to fall. She startles when she feels a warm hand on her wrist, lifting her head again to see those soft brown eyes that she had grown so used to seeing. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Doc."

[Book #3 of the 'Scar to Scar' series] "Seriously, you thought I would go for you?" Risa says, letting out a short laugh as she looks at the boy. Yuma's hand slowly releases her wrist, his eyes widening ever so slightly as he stares at her. "What-" He stammers, the girl sighing as she turns to face him fully. "We're different people, Yuma, we lead different lives. You're not worth my time." She says, tilting her head to the side as she looks up at him. Hurt flashes across the boy's gaze as he falls into the nearest chair. Risa turns away before he can stir any feelings in her chest, leaving the apartment behind without another word.

[Book #2 of the 'Werewolf' series] "Move aside, Jo. I must complete my mission." Cherry says through her teeth, adjusting her grip on the dagger in her hand. Jo doesn't move, his body completely covering Suki. Cherry wouldn't be able to get to her mark without going through the boy. "No, you'll have to kill me if you want to get to her." He says, his voice calm like he wasn't offering up his own life. Cherry scowls, meeting the boy's gaze. She only finds calm there, like his life wasn't actively being threatened. "If that's how it's going to be, then I'll just kill you both.."

[Book #2 of the 'Scar to Scar' series] "Nicho, please, don't go." Momo begs, both of her hands holding Nicholas' wrist. He closes his eyes, slowly pulling his arm out of her grasp. The girl catches the gentle way that he shifts out of her hold, like he was fighting to just to put distance between them. "We're from different worlds, Momo. This was never going to work." He says, his eyes no longer holding that fondness they had held just a few months ago. Momo stares at him, her vision blurring as tears fall down her cheeks. "Please.." She chokes, her own voice catching in her throat. Nicholas looks at her, his expression emotionless as he lets out a short breath. "Goodbye, Momo." He says before turning away from her, Momo's legs giving out underneath her as the door closes behind her soulmate.
