Wei Wuxian is a sixteen-year-old boy with a fake ID who enters a gay bar with his senior from school, Nie Huissang to get his first sip of alcohol. There his eyes are laid on the pianist Lan Wangji. Wei Wuxian is captivated by Lan Wangji's golden yellow eyes and forgets to drink. Instead, he makes it a point to arrive every other night to ogle at the beautiful man. Lan Wangji is shy but the constant attention from Wei Wuxian makes him blush. Wei Wuxian doesn't realize that the shy, gay, musician is actually an undercover rookie cop working for the narcotics division trying to stop the drug trafficking happening behind the bar.

Lan Wangji, a twenty something tech genius and an introverted homosexual texts a suicide prevention number in the middle of the night hoping for some anonymous advise on how to keep living in a world adamant on misunderstanding him. Wei Wuxian had just opened an anonymous penpal ad on a gay dating site, hoping to explore his sexuality because Nie Huissang thought that he may be bisexual. When Wei Wuxian receives a text at two in the morning he starts flirting with the anonymous sender who introduces himself as Lan Er Ge. Yingying responds with stories about his foster family that likes to keep him in an invisible box. By the end of the night it is not clear who is counseling whom.
