"Why are you there?" Mina asked, her voice trembling despite her effort to steady it.
The girl glanced back at the swings, her smile fading just a little.
"I can't leave," she said simply.
A pause.
"Not anymore."
Mina didn't understand-not yet. But as she stood there, facing the girl who shouldn't have been there at all, she felt it again-that pull, stronger this time. Like an invisible thread tying her to the playground, to the girl, to whatever story had been left unfinished.
"What's your name?" Mina asked quietly.
The girl looked at her again, and this time, her smile returned-faint, but warmer.
"Chaeyoung."
And from that moment on, the house no longer felt empty.
