Included on Wattpad's HistoricalFiction World Wars reading list. - * - * - * - Being in the French Resistance wasn't what Alice Klein envisioned her life looking like. She'd wanted a husband and a flat in Paris, and maybe a cat with a pink bow who would sleep on her piano. But bullets didn't discriminate between male or female, young or old. Alice knew that better than most. As a half-German, half-French Jew, it seemed no matter where she went, she was hated. To the German army or Vichy France, she was a traitor. To any uneducated Allied soldier, her last name screamed Nazi. When the Maquis heard of the Allies looking for connections to the French Resistance, they'd quickly offered up Alice as a multilingual translator and Underground liaison. Whisked away from the French Alps, she arrived to the States to train as a paratrooper, knowing that failure was not an option no matter how much she disliked it. Lucky for her, she didn't just find barracks and training grounds in America. She found men, and in them, family to replace the one she'd lost. - * - WARNINGS for realistic depictions of world war ii, strong language, era-typical sexism, era-typical anti-semitism, alcohol abuse, cigarette abuse, past sexual assault - * - * - * - Pairing: mostly gen, way down the line it's eventual Lewis Nixon/OC BOOK ONE in [ A Tale of Two Heritages ] Start Date: December 5, 2019 End Date: March 24, 2020 Final Word Count: 150,786 Cross-posted to FFN and Ao3 - * - * - * - #1 in World War Two, #1 in Band of Brothers, #1 in Feminist, #1 in 1940s, #1 in Lewis Nixon FIRST PLACE: Cherry Blossom Awards 2020, Writer's Glory Awards 2020 THIRD PLACE: Historical Fiction in Spice Off Award, Fanfiction in Majestic Inc. Selected for the Wattpad Historical Fiction profile's top 25 shortlist in the Historical Awards 2023 #1 in Feminist, #1 in Easy Company, #1 Band of Brothers Book 2 - * - * - * - "No war can be won without young men dying. Those things which are precious are saved only by sacrifice." - Stephen E. Ambrose, Band of Brothers - * - * - * - War never changes, but who you fight alongside does. In 1942, Alice Klein left the French Maquis to assist the American's paratrooper corps. She lost everything to the Nazis when she left: her family, her country, and her friends. But she gained Easy Company. Alice and the rest of Easy Company have been through six long months of combat already. They've seen friends die. But they're about to enter the toughest months yet. December in Bastogne brings trench foot, artillery barrages, and snipers. It brings frostbite and stupid mistakes. And above all, D-Day + 193 brings death. As the war drags on, Alice must face hard truths about what it means to be a German Jew. Events from 1942 come to light which force her to rethink everything she knew about her family's fate. As it turned out, Germans were the first victims of the Nazi party. Thankfully, Alice doesn't have to face it alone. While some faces disappear forever, others become closer than she could have ever imagined. Because though war never changes, who you fight it with does. - * - * - * - Pairing: Lewis Nixon/OC BOOK TWO in [ A Tale of Two Heritages ] Start Date: March 24, 2020 End Date: May 11, 2020 Word Count: 139,901 Cross-posted to FFN and Ao3 - * - * - * - THIS CONTAINS realistic depictions of world war ii, realistic depictions of the holocaust, strong language, major character death, cigarette abuse, alcohol abuse

WWII Historical Fiction / Band of Brothers Fanfiction Book 3 - Post War Era *** "We don't heal in isolation, but in community." - S. Kelley Harrell *** One year since Bastogne. One year since Alice lost half of everyone she'd come to care about in Easy. One year since she'd battled against pneumonia as much as she'd battled against the Germans. Only now, she was home. No foxholes, no artillery barrages, no tree bursts. Just Alice and Nix and the mansion they'd been given by his mother. But they're both getting restless. Harry and Kitty's wedding is on the horizon, and with that, an excuse to travel. But even with no foxholes, no artillery barrages, and no tree bursts keeping them up at night, they hadn't come home unscathed. No one had. Everyone who went to war was a victim. This story is a post-war continuation of a Band of Brothers fanfiction duology, A Soldier of No Importance and Humanity of the Broken. Please keep this in mind. It will feature linear narrative as well as one-shots from me and requested by readers. *** STATUS: the main story is complete, with occasional bonus content still updated when prompts are received from tumblr WARNINGS: strong language, period typical bigotry, period typical slurs, alcohol abuse, cigarette abuse *** warnings to be updated as applicable.

When two Soviet snipers find themselves forced to work with the Americans to get home during WWII, they must navigate the lies and bloodshed in their past and present to survive. In collaboration with @AdamantiumDragonfly * * * * Svetlana knew how to play the game. She'd been caught in the political drama of Stalin's inner circle since birth. The only child of one of Stalin's closest friends, she grew up in the limelight, scrutinized by friend and foe. With the outbreak of the war, Sveta found a taste of freedom with the snipers. For Zhanna, her place in the military was the only thing she could be proud of, giving her a tie to the place she called home. With the grace of others looming over her head, Zhanna had only one chance to be more than the blood inside her veins and the prayer on her lips. But then the Nazis invaded the Motherland. Tasked with reaching the Allies by her father, Sveta once more found herself a political pawn. But she wouldn't go alone. Friend and comrade Zhanna joined her in their flight from Russia. But with the Eastern Front crumbling, the girls found themselves at the mercy of America for a way home. And that way home meant learning to jump with the Airborne. They were already soldiers. How hard could that be? Zhanna may be able to embrace the company of those around her. But for Sveta, the daughter of a man who represented everything the Allies worked against in the Bolshevik Revolution, it may be too difficult. * * * * Originally posted on AdamantiumDragonfly's profile. We agreed it should find a home here too, now that they are inactive on Wattpad. Title Inspiration: "Death to the German invaders! Long live our glorious Motherland, her liberty and her independence!
