It is no longer the era of battleships. From now on, airplanes are the mainstay of the Navy. Which one is it? The doctrine of big ships and big guns or perhaps air power? The power struggle within the Navy, however, takes an unexpected turn. Due to a certain individual's change of heart, it is not the mainstream gunnery faction but rather the aviators, which was supposed to be a minor player, that emerges victorious. Looking ahead to the post-disarmament treaty era, under the Circle 3 Plan, the Imperial Navy constructs four armored aircraft carriers and plunges into a conflict with the United States. The situation has changed. The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor has been called off. "The British Empire is sending six battleships to maintain peace and order in Asia." Due to the unexpectedly upgraded Eastern Fleet's naval power, the attack on Pearl Harbor is canceled, and the Imperial Japanese Navy is forced to undergo a major strategic shift. A clash with the powerful Eastern Fleet is inevitable for the Southern Expeditionary Fleet, which now includes the state-of-the-art aircraft carriers Shōkaku and Zuikaku, as well as four Kongō-class fast battleships, now renamed the Seventh Fleet. On the other hand, the First Fleet, lacking the 3rd Battleship Division, and the 1st Air Fleet, also missing the 5th Carrier Division, are challenging the Pacific Fleet despite being at a disadvantage... Her presence surpasses that of even the largest aircraft carriers. The Shōhō was initially built as a submarine support ship before undergoing modifications to become an aircraft carrier. She was completed shortly after the outbreak of war and, like many others, found herself entangled in fierce battles and the twists of destiny. This is the record of the valiant struggles of the small yet mighty ship that raced through the turbulent Pacific, crossing the vast seas of intense waves. RELEASE: 2023 (COMPLETED)

The intelligence-focused Combined Fleet outmaneuvers the Pacific Fleet. "The United States Navy plans to build a 60.000-ton battleship." This report, brought by an attaché stationed in the United States, sent shockwaves through the Imperial Navy. Concluding that they had lost the qualitative advantage of their new battleships, the Imperial Navy top brass decided to significantly alter their designs. The Yamato, which was to be constructed at 64.000 tons, was thus born as an even larger battleship. However, it was later revealed that the US Navy's 60.000-ton battleship was misinformation. Realizing that mistakes in intelligence could lead to fatal consequences for the organization, the Imperial Navy completely changed its stance and began to aggressively collect and analyze information. This shift towards prioritizing intelligence brought significant changes to the war preparations and tactics of the Imperial Navy. RELEASE: 2024 (COMPLETED)

In June 1942, the Imperial Japanese Navy suffered a crushing defeat at the Battle of Midway, losing three aircraft carriers, Akagi, Kaga, and Sōryū. However, the surviving Hiryū, along with Shōkaku, Zuikaku, and others, continue to engage in fierce battles with the United States Navy. Finally, in the Battle of Guadalcanal, the 1st Battleship Division under the battleship Yamato was launched. A deadly battle unfolded against the newest American battleships. In 1943, the Japanese Empire found itself squeezed between the military powers of the United States and the Soviet Union, feeling the pressure of their encroachment. Across the Pacific Ocean in the United States, a massive naval expansion plan was being implemented based on the Two-Ocean Navy Act. Once all planned ships were completed, the total tonnage would reach approximately 1,3 million tons. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union was dispatching a colossal ship from Europe to East Asia - the Sovetsky Soyuz. It was the first super battleship commissioned by the Soviet Union. Three years had passed since the end of the Second World War in Europe in July 1940. The conflict, which seemed to have subsided, was now once again poised to ignite, this time in the Far East. The premise this time is World War II with the positions of Douglas MacArthur and Dwight Eisenhower swapped. There are no other changes. A flashy, gung-ho, European front and a sober, solid, lean Pacific front will develop. So this time, the main perspective is on the American side. Japan and Germany are getting their asses kicked. Or, rather, woe betide anyone that isn't named Douglas MacArthur. If you are a fan of the Axis forces, then prepare to get depressed, I guess, but anyway, this is fiction. RELEASE: 2020 (COMPLETED)

The premise of this scenario is the modern history of Japan annexed by Britain. The historical "what-if" scenario of Japan being ruled by someone other than the Japanese has been a theme I wanted to explore in the context of alternative history science fiction, but it's likely to be a taboo subject in the realm of alternate history fiction. What might be permissible is a scenario based on the original timeline's defeat of Japan in World War II and subsequent occupation and administration by the United States, or perhaps a scenario of divided rule by the US and the Soviet Union. Even in these cases, Japan usually regains its independence in a relatively short period, and it doesn't remain under the rule of other countries or ethnicities for an extended period. In other words, the idea of Japan being ruled by another ethnicity for an extended period is, even in the realm of fiction, close to being a "taboo" in Japanese history. Therefore, in this context, I would like to explore the scenario of Japan being ruled by another country. However, it's too easy to set it during World War II, so we will observe a scenario that becomes more challenging to set up, starting from the original timeline around the late Edo period. I would like to emphasize that our goal is to simulate Japan as a "colony." Well then, let us once again enter the realm of fiction. RELEASE: 2021 (COMPLETED)

[WWII in a world where the (British) Second London Naval Treaty was signed.] In 1936, due to the UK's painstaking diplomatic efforts and the imposition of bizarre such clauses such as battleships being restricted to main guns of 12 inches or less and standard displacement of 50.000 tons or less, the Second London Naval Treaty was signed by Japan, the US, the UK, France, and Italy. The world was able to enjoy a period of peace for a time. However, regrettably, World War II broke out as in OTL. The nations entered a state of war. Yet, the battleships, distorted by the disarmament treaty, had to pay the price. Moreover, during the treaty negotiations, Britain proposed the Second Anglo-Japanese Alliance as a condition for Japan to sign the treaty. Japan agreed, leading it to join World War II in 1939 from the very beginning. Thus, the Yamato, which was constructed early under the framework of the Kongō-class replacement, set out for the North Atlantic to escort British convoys. However, in Germany, the Bismarck was preparing for operations in commerce raiding. This is a fictional war story based on the premise that the Second London Naval Treaty was concluded with added British conditions and continued to influence various events and incidents afterward.
