„Tell me every terrible thing you did, and let me love you anyway." ______________ Nobody expected a voice like hers to emerge from the wings, let alone with a spirit so sharp. The Opéra Populaire might have wished for a pretty face and voice with not much behind it, but what they got was Y/N. The Phantom of the Opera is used to being feared. He is used to being avoided. What he is not used to is a woman who looks him in the eye and dismantles every law of his existence - the belief that he is fundamentally loathsome, and doomed to solitude. In an era of stifling propriety, Y/N is the anomaly. She isn't a muse to be molded; she is his peer, and his most profound undoing. As it turns out, the only thing more dangerous than the Opera Ghost might be the woman who isn't afraid of him. Disclaimer: AU where Christine does not exist. Y/N is somewhat in her place, but certainly handling things differently than her. Written with Ramin Karimloo (25th Anniversary) in mind as the Phantom. Also, I am taking the liberty to slightly change certain aspects (e.g. Eriks mask and deformity are more inspired by Ramin in Love Never Dies (Westend, 2010)). Also, updates may take a while as I take ages until I'm satisfied with my writing. Tags: the slowest burn I can manage, lots of angst, fluff, certainly nsfw at some point TW: stalking (a lot of it), voyeurism, violence, mentions of abuse, death

"I have realized... it is better to be alone, Meg. The people I love won't get hurt." He whispered to me and then I saw him. The man I know and love; the man torn between wanting to love and scared of it; the man wanting to feel but runs away from everything that makes him feel because he is afraid of losing it. "I learned with Christine that I cannot love, Meg. I cannot love anyone...I only hurt them. And no one can love me. Who could?" "I could." I couldn't believe I just said it. He froze and I just kept talking, afraid the words would stop coming out of my mouth. "That's where you're wrong, Erik. You've always believed that no one could ever love you, all of you, even with your deformity. And yet, I have loved you since I was seventeen years old. You hid yourself behind the "Phantom of the Opera" but I never saw a Phantom. I saw a man desperate to be loved, to be loved not only for his music but for himself. I thought Christine could be the one to finally show you that love since I was so afraid to do so. But not afraid of you but what I know you would say. Christine chose wrong, Erik. I would've chosen you in a heartbeat... I do choose you."

Irène Monet was taught to hide her voice, for beauty and talent such as hers was meant to be silenced. Then she heard it -- a voice from the shadows, treasuring every note as though it were salvation. Raimond Rochechouart wishes to make her his bride. Persistent as ever, he offers her safety, status, and a life without risk -- but also a cage. He sees only the surface of her. But in the shadows, a masked man -- the Phantom of the Opera -- sees everything: her sorrow, her fragility, her loneliness, and the voice she was forbidden to share. ___ *Updates every week!* Erik Destler (Phantom) x F!OC #1: #madamegiry, #thephantomoftheopera, #poto #2: #thephantomoftheopera, #erik #3: #poto

The life of an ordinary girl is turned upside down when she is transported into her favorite musical, "The Phantom of the Opera," in the place of the elegant heroine. Negotiating life in 19th-century Paris is challenging enough without a diva scheming for leads, a sarcastic Persian's input, and two very different men battling for her affections! Should she stay faithful to the plot of the story or rewrite history? Should she choose a safe path with a reliable husband or risk her future following her mysterious Phantom? Told from the points of view of Erik - the Phantom - and the newly-made Christine, this story follows them both as they work through their respective demons to find love in the person that is a little different from all their imaginings. "A really well-written Erik/OC, with a lovely, smart, likable heroine. If you ever fantasized about taking Christine's place in POTO, read this." - @olivesky "I am literally crying right now. That was so good!" - @musicalsnmarkiplier "One of the best fan fictions I have ever read" - @elephant_hugger "I just discovered this today and finished it in one go. This is an extraordinary work, Erik deserves you to portray him 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻" - @Myatnoe123 "Sacrificing a few hours of sleep was worth finishing this." - @LiberDose "I must confess you've ruined all other Phantom of the Opera fanfictions" - @LilRed315 "Thank you for the 2-in-the-morning giggles, the falling-out-of-the-bed-blushing phangirl moments, and just writing this book in general! You are the best author!" - @ThatBabyQuinnDoh *Now available to read on archiveofourown.org* Disclaimer: I do not own The Phantom of the Opera or its characters. || Book 1 of The Shadow's Melody || As a maid here at the new Opéra Populaire I can certainly sense something different. Something missing. It lacked him. The Opera Ghost who disappeared. I know I should let it go. I know I shouldn't constantly think about a dead man. A murderer. But I simply can't. I can't forget about that man I fell in love with those many years ago. I yearned to hear his angelic voice again. I begged for it. Hoped for it. Prayed for it. I called for him in my dreams. The man they called The Phantom of the Opera. I would never have guessed that my hopes and prayers would soon be answered.
