A hot summer in the French countryside was never meant to change her. But it did.
When Sirius Black and his younger brother Regulus goes away from Grimmauld Place to meet their father friend, they land not in punishment-but in an unexpected haven. The Lectoure estate of the De Laffererie, nestled among wild lavender fields and golden hills, is a world away from the cold cruelty of the Black family. There, Sirius meets Lucile-a radiant, whip-smart girl with a mischievous smile and eyes that seem to see right through him.
She calls him "Sleeping Beauty", teases him until he forgets how to be guarded, and draws out a version of him he didn't know he could be. As the summer unfolds, so does a fragile kind of freedom: barefoot games in the moonlight, soft confessions, and stolen moments scented with salt and sun.
But summer must end.
Back in London, Sirius tries-and fails-to write. Letters are burned before they reach her. Lucile, stillstudying at Beauxbatons, the French school of magic keeps walking to the owlery every morning, still believing a letter might come. She clings to memories, even as silence grows.
But in a turn of event Lucile and her brother end up changing school, she now goes at Hogwart. Meeting new peoples and seeing old friend again.
As the seasons turn, the lines between friendship, memory, and something deeper begin to blur.
-> A slowburn tale of longing, letters never sent, and the ache of almosts.
This is a story about growing up, falling in love across distance and time, and the kind of magic that lingers long after summer fades.
