The magical land of Horoscopia is a beautiful, peaceful, and prosperous place full of magic and enchantment. It is ruled by The Zodiac Spirits; twelve magical beings that were created by Natalie Charte, The Goddess of The Zodiac. They all share the ability to grant the positive wishes of people. Unfortunately, while Mario and friends were in Horoscopia celebrating the 1000th Year of Peace Festival, they get interrupted by Ophiuchus; The Harbinger of Bad Luck, who is the "13th Zodiac Spirit". He kidnaps the Zodiac Spirits, turns them into Star Crystals, scatters them everywhere, and possesses the Koopa Family. With the Zodiac Spirit adviser Cosmo on their side, it's down to Mario and friends to save the day!
