First It Was All Love is a haunting tale of love, war, and the irreversible weight of choices. Told through letters, diary entries, and shifting perspectives, it follows the tragic romance of Friedrich, a Nazi officer, and Miriam, a Jewish woman, as they are torn apart by war and ideology.
Once deeply in love, they are reunited in a concentration camp-only to find that time and war have turned them into strangers. Friedrich, hardened by his beliefs, resents Miriam, convinced she abandoned him. Unbeknownst to him, she never stopped writing to him, even as she suffered. When she is condemned to death, it is only in her final moments that Friedrich realizes the truth-but too late to save her.
