Even if I wanted to roll my eyes at them. Peter and Mattie had already been through so much not to mention my little sister. I looked over at Olivia and couldn't believe we hadn't seen it. How had we not seen it. We'd been with her the day it happened how had we been so distracted we hadn't seen it? I wasn't sure I'd be able to forgive myself for that. Da stood up and handed Libby to me. "Keep an eye on her I need to check Samantha's diaper I think she's getting a little ripe." I laughed and looked down at my little sister. Nothing like that would ever happen to her I didn't car what I had to do. Olivia was the last sister I failed. I rocked Libby in my arms and wondered who'd be next, would it be me or Josie or even Olivia? Addy and Nelly were too young even if they did meet someone, they wouldn't be allowed to finish their mating. When da came back from changing Samantha's diaper he switched girls so that Libby could get her own diaper checked. Samantha, such a cutie had already lost her mother and father to a bunch of hate mongering humans. I knew that they still existed, but I didn't realize they still killed our kind. She'd be loved and included among us easily.

His family had thrown him away as a baby. Packs despised him. Alpha's used him. It wasn't his fault that he didn't shift to a wolf. He had the gene's but it just wasn't active. He'd been used for only one thing and taught that he was worthless and no one would ever want him. But after some trouble he is given away to another pack, my pack. He was small and timid. Could we convince him that this pack was as good as it seemed? Excerpt: Quiet, barely heard but he'd chuckled. He turned at the end and I saw his shirt catch a stack of pots. The fell breaking all over the floor. "Oh my god. Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I'll clean it up." he says dropping to his knees and raking at the glass. "Careful don't get cut." I grab his hands to pull him away. "I'm sorry." he's staring up at me in horror. "It's just pots." I say pulling him up. "I'm sorry. I'll apologize." he reaches for my belt and pulls at it. What was he doing?

While we ate several key speakers took their turns before letting everyone have a good time. I'm at the bar getting a glass of scotch when I notice a young man near the wall. He was a very hot looking tiger. White with those black stripes. He was leaning, one hand on the wall and bending close to a young pure white cat. He was obviously using every bit of charm he had. She looked flattered by the attention but kept looking around like she was trying to find a way to get away from him. Deciding to help her I step over to just behind him. He was a couple inches shorter then me. Short for a tiger but he was still young. I debated what to do then decided to interrupt and give her an opening to get away. "Excuse me." I say behind him making him jump a little. As soon as he straightens and turns to look at me his quarry darts away and hurries into the crowd. "Damn." He mutters as he see's her go. "Something you needed?" He asks me frowning at me. I smile and glance in the way she went. "No. Just wanted to give her a chance to get away if she wanted. Being charming to win someone over is one things, but not taking the hint when they are disinterested is another. Unless you are just not that bright and didn't notice she was looking for a way to get away." "It was none of your business."

In one night he lost everything. Can he find happiness? Will love lead the way? Can hard times make bonds stronger? Excerpt: I had woken I don't know how many hours later to feel my body being moved. I had started to flail though I knew that it would do no good but it wasn't my attacker. "Damn it, stop it. We've got to get out of here before he finishes his coup." I opened my eyes to see my savior. Okay I thought that for all of two seconds. "Where the hell were you? He killed my father, he... he... you were supposed to protect him." I hit him with my hand then with fists but the little strength I'd had failed and I went limp in his arms. "You may punish me later for now I am going to take you out of here. I will not fail a second time by letting my kings only child and greatest treasure die here." He wrapped the cover I was laying on around me and lifted me. Quickly and carefully he carried me out of the castle and away from what would have been our deaths if we'd stayed.

He was small, scared, and trying to save the only family he had. He never thought he'd be strong enough to bring a Lion to his knees. Excerpt: 'Better come out of there. You are on our land, if you are injured we'll help and get you on your way. We don't want trespassers.' Still I say nothing. 'Come on, you can't stay here come out or we'll have to come in after you.' I curl tighter around my babies and growl. No way would I let them near my babies. 'Now, now, we've been nice don't get unfriendly or we'll have to add to your injuries before we heal you.' Slipping to my feet I keep my body over my babies without squishing them. Whether it was my moving, my fear or they could smell our visitors but they began to whimper and squirm. Both lioness perk up at the sound. 'Stay away.' I tell them. 'You've babies? This is not the place for them.' One says, the other shifts her weight. 'The blood, you just gave birth didn't you? Where's your family? Can we call someone?' 'No. Go away, let me rest for a time and I'll take my babies and leave your territory.' 'You can't just wonder around with a newborn. How are you going to care for them. Come with us we'll take care of you until you get back on your feet.' 'No, I don't know you. Go away.' 'We won't hurt you.' I couldn't believe that, I couldn't trust these strangers. They were lions, lions were not known for being kind. I'd come out and they'd kill me and my babies.

His genetics are a very odd mix. One that no one wanted to claim. He's moved to a new town and a new group. Something comes that raises hope inside him. Will he be able to find love? Can he finally have that family that he wanted? He's getting desperate and even crazy ideas are starting to look good. Excerpt: I was really going to have to find a new job. This moving every year was getting annoying. I liked my job as an engineer but I followed the projects and most only lasted a year or so. I'd finished another and had to move again. Each time I moved I had to find a new Hyena pack. I was only half Hyena the other half wasn't something I liked to tell people. It had caused me to lose more than one boyfriend. No one wanted to claim a Hyena that was half swan. Those who liked me as a Hyena, since that was my shape, weren't so interested in having pups that might actually be Cygnets instead. I always told Alpha's my second half because I didn't want it found out later and have trouble because of it. My new Alpha had given me a room here in the rather large pack house. We'd gone all over and then she'd turned me over to the guy who roomed next to me. Jeff. "I don't mind if he wants to tag along after me for a time." Had been his answer to the alpha when asked if he'd show me around. I'd spent a couple days now just learning the lay of everything with the new pack.

That was not flattering to myself or fair to him. It was easier I guess to pick a fight then actually let myself like him. His eyes flipped to mine again. That eyebrow went up and he smirked. Now he was laughing at me. I straightened and turned to lean against the pole with my back to him. Maybe it was time to find a nice girl to date. The trouble was I hadn't been interested in anyone enough to want to go on a date, and I wasn't the kind to do one night stands. My eyes flipped to Alex. He was smiling and laughing at something Tyler was saying. I was happy for him but if I really let it be felt, I was jealous, a little that Tyler got him and I didn't, but I think it was more that they were together and happy and I had no one. I'd finally hit that age I wanted family and children. "Here." A plate appeared in front of me. I looked around and saw Mike holding it out. "What's this?" "That's commonly known as food. You eat it. I've noticed you favor the mushroom soup, stuffing with gravy and corn on the cob. Here you go." I took the plate. Why on earth had he not only noticed what I ate but brought me a plate of it.
