John Dutton knew that he couldn't keep having vets come in from town in the middle of the night to check on his horses who have gotten sick or a calf in his heard who'd fell down in a hole. He knew he needed to have a vet willing to stay on the land and be called when needed. So after discussing this with one of his old friends he was offered a man who had been a vet for years and is younger and can easily handle the hardships of ranch life. Or Sebastian Wescot is given the job of being John Duttons ranch vet that offers good pay and benefits.
