Es hätte eigentlich ein ganz normaler Tag auf Berk sein sollen, als plötzlich Sturmpfeil mit einer ohnmächtigen Astrid am Rücken von einem Flug zurückkommt. Astrid kann sich an nichts mehr erinnern, was auf ihrem Flug mit Sturmpfeil passiert ist. Auf einmal sieht sie ständig rote Bilder vor sich. Bilder von einem gewissen Ort, einer Insel. Bilder, deren Bedeutung Astrid nicht versteht. Anfangs nur eigenartig, werden die Bilder immer bedrohlicher und bringen Astrid in gefährliche Situationen. Es liegt nun an ihr und den Drachenreitern, herauszufinden, was auf dem Flug mit Sturmpfeil passiert ist und was es mit den Bildern auf sich hat.
