After the death of Wei Wuxian's parents, he leaves his grandmother's secluded mountain and goes to Lotus Pier. Their he becomes the head disciple as it was the sect his father served before his mysterious death. He was then to attend lectures at Cloud Recesses, a place where his mother was said to be cursed.
