An unidentified amount of time after Gumball Watterson encouraged Penny Fitzgerald to break out of her shell and be herself, a new threat has emerged from the world of infinite static with the intention of capturing the one fairy who exposed herself to the world. This sends the two of them on the run from not only Rob, but a new enemy like none the town has ever seen before (even by Elmore's standards). With the entirety of Elmore, and possibly the world, at stake, the two lovebirds are indirectly sent on a journey both physically and emotionally. Gumball is now introduced to the darker side of the fairy's emotions and her feelings about herself and her powers. The Daily Activity Oversight (DAO) sets new laws on the way people use Elmore Stream-It, which includes a $50,000,000 fine per violation. No one in Elmore is able to follow the vague law, nor are they able to pay such a ridiculous amount of money. And seeing how financially struggling the Wattersons are, they prepare to live in a decrepit house living off scraps of trash and sleeping under a falling roof.....until someone comes to the aid of Elmore's citizens. Eventually, Gumball learns a sinister secret that's been hidden from Stream-It's users for the entirety of the ordeal.
