Sakura's death happened as a result of her two teammates' fight to the death. Naruto's attempt to change Sasuke wasn't going as expected, and now they were about to kill each other with their final blow. Naruto's intention had been to let Sasuke win and pierce through his body. But Sakura witnessed this whole thing and jumped between. It was a sickening feeling. Seeing two of the most important people in her life trying to kill each other. It was terribly wrong. In the spur of the moment, she flickered between them and took on their blows.
