My name is Candy, I'm 22 years old, and I work at Comic Cons around town.
Most people lose their minds when they see a famous actor standing ten feet away from them. Me? I barely look twice anymore. When you spend your days working conventions, celebrities become just another part of the job. I've seen the screaming fans, the crying, the pictures, the autographs, and people nearly passing out because their favorite actor smiled at them.
So when the cast of The Walking Dead comes to town for a convention, I treat them exactly like everyone else.
No screaming.
No staring.
No begging for pictures.
And apparently, that gets their attention more than fangirling ever could.
There is one other tiny thing about me they don't know.
I have magic.
Real magic.
The kind of magic I've spent years keeping hidden because explaining glowing blue sparks coming out of my hands tends to create more problems than it solves.
Everything is supposed to be simple. Work the convention, help the guests, survive the crowds, go home.
Then my magic suddenly goes crazy while I'm standing only feet away from some of the Walking Dead actors.
At first, I think something is wrong with me.
Then strange things begin happening around the convention.
Things that shouldn't be possible.
And it doesn't take long for me to realize that the fictional world everyone came here to celebrate may not be as fictional as we thought.
One minute they're actors signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
The next?
We're about to find out what happens when The Walking Dead becomes real.
Good thing I have magic.
Because if the dead really do start walking, screaming probably isn't going to help anybody.
