This one was kinda inspired by goosebumps. There's a haunted element to this book. The reader had her life taken from her a long time ago, and she now has to rely on a pair of brothers to get it back. Newgate family: Thatch, Marco, Whitey Bay, Ace, Sabo, Luffy and Bonney. Added a couple of girls for the sake of sisterhood this time around. :) I own nothing except the story. Perhaps some dark themes ahead. Admittedly, I found most of my inspiration to start this from a Zoro fic called "The One" written by @lyndsyh, it's truly amazing - I recommend reading if y'all haven't already. {Modern AU} Sequel to Heart of Embers (please note, you don't have to have read heart of embers to read this story, but some details will make more sense if you do) Life had literally flipped upside down for you in the last few months. First your parents died in an accident, then you found out you were adopted and that your biological family died to some epidemic when you were a small child. Then you found out you had a living cousin who also survived the epidemic and were now going to live with them. You haven't really had the time to properly process any of this, but your pushing on, struggling on despite everything. Trying to pay of your school tuition and not cause problems, but then you went and lost your job, though maybe that isn't all that bad as your boss wasn't exactly nice. And now everything continues to change around you, and honestly you don't know how to handle it. But when you look into his eyes and he smiles, something tells you, everything is going to be okay.
