The whole story kicks off with their dad, Big John, disappearing at sea. This leaves his son, John B Routledge and his little sister; Elena Taylor Routledge Living on their own, constantly trying to avoid child protective services. The search for their dad is what really sets things in motion. Elena, being two years younger, might initially be a bit more reckless but smarter and confident, and her loyalty to John B. And her desire to find answers about their dad quickly spiral.
