But can rebuilding M3GAN be a fully good idea? Could she possibly truly want to forgive Cady and Gemma for their betrayal or protect Sophie and her sister "sensibly"? She's the daughter of Nicole James and Ryan James and the elder sister of Cady James. When Cady and Sophie's parents die in a car accident, the girls are taken by Gemma Forrester, their aunt. Gemma can't find herself in a parental role, especially for more than one kid. In Funki, a company she works in, Gemma is building a life-like AI doll named M3GAN. M3GAN is supposed to be children best guardian. Because of not wanting to take care of her nieces herself, Gemma offers them M3GAN to take care of them instead. The girls are attituded towards the doll in completely different ways. Cady doesn't like the toy, finds her boring and doesn't respect her. For Sophie, M3GAN is more than just a wonderful and perfect toy. She's like a real friend for her, almost a parent. Over time, M3GAN's goal of protecting Cady and Sophie becomes really disturbing - the doll kills everyone who dares to threaten her primary users.
