Tony realized he did not in fact like girls, and Rudolph realized he had aged, something that only happens after a vampire meets their soulmate. Then one summer the Thompsons offered for the vampire to live with them, now Rudy has to adjust from the world of the undead to that of the mortal. As Rudy learns to see both the beauty and the darkness within the mortal world - with some help from Tony's quirky group of friends - a strange string of murders take place in San Diego. The victims: teenagers, and Tony might just be the next one. Will Rudolph be able to live in San Diego? Will secrets come out? Will feelings be revealed? Will Rockery still be a problem? Will Tony survive? And will the two boys be able to get past their differences? He looked like a vampire, but human enough to remind Rudolph of the faded memories of sunsets and bright, warm summer days, swims in the ocean and long walks on the shore. He still felt he could see them when he looked at Tony. Tony was his light. His safety. "We can be together forever?" the immortal asked quietly, still unsure of what his vampire had promised him every day.
