Vic and Mike have a father who is always yelling at Mike and abusing Vic. Both boys have always been there for each other and realize maybe they should be more than just brothers.

Vic Fuentes never thought anything bad would happen to him. He had a pretty decent life; star-player of the soccer team at his high school, good grades, girls swooning over him. Vic never really took danger precautions seriously. One drunken night, he’s dared to go into the woods alone in the middle of the night while drunk to sleep there. That’s the night when his mindset about danger changed. Kellin Quinn-Bostwick was always the loner boy. His life was as low as someone’s life could get; abusive parents, bad grades, no friends. He was also openly gay. People never tried to tease him or taunt him about it; or about anything, for that matter. Everyone knew Kellin could kill–literally. He watches Vic and his drunken friends near the woods and decides, without thinking, how to ruin their night. He doesn’t know it yet, but Kellin only made Vic’s night better. After the death of Kellin's best friend Hayley, Kellin quickly falls into a depression. As he moves through the motions of answering the questions of his psychologist and the teachers at his boarding school, Pine Hills, he starts to believe that he's going crazy. He thinks he's seeing the ghost of the boy who committed suicide years ago in the halls of that very boarding school. And he might even be becoming very close friends with this so called ghost.

What happens when a teen that's been abused and has self harmed gets adopted but her heroes pierce the veil. Will vic see her cut or will she learn to trust them and tell them.
