Minami Kano was a detective working overtime in Tokyo to help sustain herself. Her mother had left her with her stepdad and brother when she was sixteen and now she has to work twice as hard to survive in the borderlands and rely on strangers to hopefully have someone by her side. Sunato Banda was a murder, one that Minami had actually worked cases about. He's very secretive about his family life just like Minami and seems colder than most people she had met in the borderlands. Both met by a mutual friend and would always be by each-other, not by choice. This eventually lead Minami to start falling for him though she didn't trust him as much. She wasn't aware but Banda has eventually grew feelings for her too. Would they ever tell eachother or keep the feeling mutual in silence?

Miura Yuina was a ballet teacher and an aspiring singer. Her singing dreams were then crushed as she had been in a cardiac arrest, taken by the borderlands. Thankfully she had survived all the games and had made it out alive but soon enough she'll realize she's back playing these deathly games. Hida Nobuaki was Miura's college classmate. He had suffered from bullying in his high school years and just like Miura he was also set into the borderlands for "2 minutes." He also made it out alive, barely but now he will have to go back and compete in the games but not alone this time.

One of the victims of her articles was 𝓡𝐘𝐔𝐉𝐈 𝓜𝐀𝐓𝐒𝐔𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐀, a university professor, whose incident of 'killing a student' Mirim wrote about in her newspaper. She targeted a situation where, at the request of one of the students, he gave her a drug to induce a near-death experience. On a daily basis, he is a calm man. However, the awareness of living with a ruined career can lead to madness. A morbid fascination with the afterlife and a desire for revenge on the one who brought him to this hopeless rabbit hole. 𝕺ne time, they end up together in the Borderlands, where they have a sharp eye on each other; a world that has always fascinated Ryuji, and into which Mirim has pushed other people.
