Since she was 6 years old Percy had been speaking with the Naiads in the waters around New York, the dryads in the trees and all kinds of nature spirits learning their ways. They could tell what she was and the innocent spirit of the child endeared her to them so they sought to protect her and teach her how to protect herself. Percy learned the way of the nymphs not of the half-blood the way heroes before her had. At first the nymphs had tried to contact her Godly father but were never successful and after a while they decided the little Princess would be their secret. And she was until Zeus' Master Bolt was stolen.
