Safety has a shape. It has rules. It has limits. In the Seraphis Node, Elita Mireille Chávez is about to learn all three. After surviving the clutches of a child trafficking ring, the government offered her a place to be able to achieve ataraxia - a high-security, government-funded sanctuary built for victims like her. A refuge known as "Seraphis Node" Three buildings. Six guardians. One rule. Never speak of the painting in the altar. At the heart of the main building stands an altar dedicated to an unknown deity. The six guardians are extremely devoted to the deity, and they force the victims to praise and worship too. When Elita discovers that the deity they worship is not a myth, but a living, breathing scientist with the mentality of a maniac who experiments on mankind, turning them into beautiful but bloodlusted monsters, she realizes: Safety was never the plan. Control was.

Memento Mori, a Latin phrase that translates to "Remember you must die." In the world of beings who are granted divine power, Memento Mori is law. Here, immortality is seen as blasphemous and unlawful. Simply desiring to be immortal is equivalent to wanting to be like God - or to be God. Beings who desire immortality perish brutally. They are slain by the Memento Mori: an organization of heroes - or should I say, the "dogs" of the higher-ups. Their existence serves as both executioner and a reminder: no matter how high one ascends, no being can ever escape the fate decreed by the God - death itself. - DISCLAIMER: This story is written in both English and Tagalog.
