Veralynn beat Geeta: the Top Champion of Paldea, but not for the fame or glory. She did it out of pure spite; a quick and easy victory to prove a point she'd held for years. So when she was offered the grand title, she refused it on the spot which left the entire Pokémon League, a few others, and the world in shock.
