Harlan has a unique power, one that makes him see things others cant, and therefore got him thrown in an asylum when he was only a child. Now he's a reluctant hero, thrust into the profession since he lacked any other option. He's amazing at his job, and six years into his work, is the sidekick to one of the most notable heroes of his generation: Lavina. Unfortunately, he also hates being a hero, but there's one thing that makes it worth it. The numbered. A series of villains who appeared out of nowhere and have an exceptional skill at avoiding the law, heroes, and just generally winning or evading consequences. Consequences, which are the only part of Harlan's job he enjoys. Harlan wants to find the root of it all more than anything, and he's beginning to get close. He intends to find out at any cost. He intends to win at any cost. That, he's sure of. His drive is unmatched. Until something entirely foreign to him gets involved: Feelings. Camilo Carter is The Doctor of East Hadena, one of the deadliest serial killers the city has ever seen. He's excellent at what he does, with no signs of getting caught any time soon. He thinks he has it all figured out, sees himself as almost bulletproof. He's never slipped up, never come remotely close. Camilo is untouchable. That is, until the really hot lead investigator of his case moves in across the hall. ~ "Perfect," he tells me, tone low. My heart practically stops beating in my chest. "I meant you're perfect." Decari doesn't know. He has no idea how untrue that is, how far off. He doesn't know, and he can't know. He can't ever fucking find out! He just can't, and I'm terrified that if I let this continue any longer... I'll get too comfortable. Too secure. I can never allow myself to doubt his loyalty to the law. If I'm to give in, I need to promise myself that. I take a step forward, and we're so close like this that I can feel the heat of his body. I finally move my gaze up to his eyes, which look a lot darker like this. He is entirely focused on me, and I don't think he even realizes he does it, but his hand drops from my face and finds its way to my hip a moment later. The world seems to disappear as I look into his eyes, deciding to warn him one last time. "You'll change your mind." [WATTYS 2025 WINNER] ~ [WARNINGS: smut, gore, some heavy topics like torture and sexual assault, morally grey characters (the usual)(I mean it's a book about a serial killer..)]

[BxB] Aiden Rowe never asked for hockey. He doesn't like the cold, the crowds or the jocks. He'd much rather spend his time watching birds. But when he gets stuck covering the Port Howe Puffins for the school paper, his senior year suddenly revolves around freezing rinks, team dinners, deadlines and a sport he doesn't really understand. Somewhere between the chaos though, he finds someone who actually sees him and maybe hockey and Port Howe aren't the worst things after all. A soft, quirky and occasionally unhinged story about finding warmth (and love) in the unlikeliest of places. Content warning: lots of bird nerding Note: This is very much a queer romance with mature themes. Cover by @surrenderedstories
