Her grip around my throat tightened just slightly, her long veiny fingers digging into my skin.
I wanted to say something-anything-to apologize, but my voice failed me. And before I could even think or utter a single word to calm her down, she jerked me toward her with surprising force, and her lips crashed onto mine. The kiss wasn't gentle-no, it was consuming, like she was trying to claim my very soul with just her lips.
And God, I'd be damned if I said I didn't enjoy every second of her hatred-because I did.
