When Kwon Soonyoung moves into the picturesque neighborhood of Autumnvale, everyone whispers about his wealthy background. But unlike the typical "rich boy" stereotype, Soonyoung is down-to-earth and hates people who act entitled or spoiled. That's why when he first encounters Lee Jihoon lounging under a big oak tree with a designer coat, polished shoes, and a novel in hand Soonyoung immediately decides he doesn't like him. Jihoon fits the exact image of someone spoiled, with his expensive clothes and his effortless charm. Even when Jihoon tries a few times to be friendly, Soonyoung dismisses him with curt replies, convinced he knows what kind of person Jihoon is. But Jihoon isn't just what he looks like. Though spoiled by his father with material things, he's far from useless. He can cook, clean, and fix things on his own. Soonyoung only realizes this truth one autumn afternoon: while jogging past Jihoon's house, he stops in his tracks when he sees Jihoon on the roof, hammer in hand, repairing broken shingles by himself. It's the first crack in Soonyoung's judgment and the beginning of him seeing Jihoon for who he really is.

Jihoon puts both his palms on the other's cheek and he smiles cheekily at him. "Win that medal Soonyoung, I know you can. Win that medal for me, for yourself. Win that medal for us and maybe then you can ask me again." Soonyoung's mouth opens and closes like a fish and Jihoon only giggles. "You mean..." He trails off and Jihoon nods with a grin then he grabs both hands from the other's lap and brings them to his mouth kissing his knuckles one by one.

BOOK #4 He didn't walk into my life - he bled into it. Like smoke curling under locked doors, like rot blooming behind a smile. They say the Devil knocks. But Soonyoung never needed to. He found the cracks in me, the ones I sealed with silence and stitched with obedience, and whispered through them like a hymn - dark, low, addictive. He calls me little heart, like I'm something fragile he plans to keep broken. And I keep coming back, not because I'm brave - but because I've forgotten the taste of salvation. And damnation, when it wears his face, feels almost holy. ---- I never wanted heaven. Too clean. Too quiet. Give me the boy who flinches at kindness and claws at cruelty like it's the only language he knows. Give me Jihoon. My little heart with iron in his spine and rot tucked behind his ribs. He thinks he can outrun the dark - sweet thing hasn't realized I am the dark. And I've already wrapped my hands around his throat, not to hurt him - but to make sure he never leaves. He prays. I answer. Every time, in blood, in fire, in a love so sharp it cuts both ways.

In which Jihoon finds his way back home, a home he never had before, a home he never believed in before, a home full of magic and fairytales. Jihoon might as well probably just had hit his head when his apartment burned and ended in a psych ward, because this feels like a kid's storybook. ... They hit the ground hard, Jihoon landing with a thud and a sharp scrape along his arm. He hisses in pain, groaning, trying to sit up. There's something heavy on his chest. Breathing, however, and stopping him from moving. And... sniffling? He freezes in place when something wet nudges his neck. A sharp exhale huffs against his cheek. Jihoon cracks one eye open and finds himself face-to-face with a tiger. A real, massive, golden-eyed tiger. It blinks down at him with something dangerously close to affection. He blinks again. "What the..." The tiger whines. Actually whines. Jihoon stares, open-mouthed. "I just got saved... by a freaking tiger?"
