In this story, T'Challa, the Black Panther and king of Wakanda, is an established ruler, navigating the delicate balance between his nation's advanced technology and its traditional values. The story begins with a dramatic scene: a small fishing vessel's crew discovers a young, unconscious boy adrift in the waters off the Wakandan coast, near the capital city. The boy, who appears to be around 16 years old, is brought ashore and, once his non-Wakandan origin is confirmed, is taken into custody and his presence is immediately brought to the attention of King T'Challa.
The boy, who can only recall his name is Leo and that he is from the UK, has no memory of how he ended up in the sea. He is disoriented and frightened, his mind a blank slate regarding his recent past. Intrigued by the mystery of his arrival and moved by the boy's vulnerability, T'Challa takes a personal interest in his case. He sees something in Leo-a raw potential, a flicker of something more-that resonates with him.
