The both of them didn't care if Giyu was female or male, he was still a person who deserved to be treated right. Giyu's now the Water Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. In final selection Sabito sacrificed his life to protect Giyu. Giyu couldn't be more thankful, but he blamed himself for it. Everyday Giyu thought about Sabito, and how he cared for him as a brother. Those happy moments Giyu thought about were the only ones to make him smile. Around others, he showed no emotion. He also didn't know how the other Hashiras would react if he told them he's trans.
