He'd been attending a heavily Christian boarding school in a Chicago suburb for as long as he could remember, and religion was one of the only consistencies in his life. The church had always been his home, even if he had to subconsciously repress major parts of himself to stay holy. Pete Wentz grew up in a religious household, attending church every week and always dreading it more than cattle dreads being turned into meat. By the time he hit puberty, he knew that he liked boys and that the religion he was forced into was not for him. Now, Pete and Mikey are both seventeen. After an excessive, tumultuous argument between Pete and his parents about his sexuality, they decide to send him off to a Christian boarding school, hoping he'd be cured of his so-called sin. Pete is convinced that he's gonna hate it there. That all changes when he arrives and meets the cute (and very, very religious) dirty blonde haired boy with whiskey brown eyes that's now his roommate.

So there's this random little town in Ohio (Norman Creek)- one of those places where everyone goes to church on Sunday, commits a crime on Monday, and pretends it didn't happen by Tuesday. In this town lives Kimmie, a foster kid who's basically one bad day away from burning everything down. She's smart, sarcastic, and somehow still pulling straight A's despite her foster family being a walking dumpster fire. Her so-called parents? Craig is never home (probably golfing or drinking), Delilah keeps going on these "church trips" that are definitely not about Jesus, and their son Jonah-he's almost out of high school, still has no job, and spends his time watching Tralalero Tralala fight Capucino Asesino instead of studying for finals. A true scholar. Then there's Esther, Kimmie's disaster "friend" who she has definitely has not made out with her eight different times. . They work shifts at McDonald's and Walgreens just to save enough money to escape to Indiana - because, yeah, that's the dream apparently. And her friend Evan who plays drums, is gay, and sorta kinda looks like revenge era Mikey Way. Not only that but his parents are long gone. He misses his Mom with all his heart but his dad.. well, we'll get into that eventually. He has a little sister, Rosie and a semi- forbidden crush on Vampy. Vampy is quite literally perfect. There's one problem. He has everything but the one true thing he wants. Their town's basically cursed: constant shootings, kidnappings, and murders, but everyone's too busy pretending everything's fine to care. Basically, it's 6 teens stuck in a rotting Ohio town full of shitty people, trying to save their racist little town and find courage to figure out what the hell is happening in their town before the next tragedy hits.
