In the silent reaches of deep space, Za'lìk moves beneath the notice of his kind under the command of his clan elders. Newly blooded yet bound to secrecy, he threads through corrupt Yautja clans like a shadow, hunting the echoes of a traitor faction so old and elusive that the search has led countless hunters into madness, and most often their deaths. However, with new information brought to life, Za'lìk has dedicated himself to hunt these abominations with his new rank. By only following fragments of clues; broken symbols, dead warriors, and whispers. The truth seems to lie just beyond his reach.
Unfortunately, that truth slips through his grasp the moment everything goes wrong.
A mission meant to secure living specimens from a human vessel turns into catastrophe. Alarms erupt, steel doors close like jaws, and Za'lìk and his companion are overwhelmed by the cold precision of human defenses. Stripped of weapons and honor, he awakens in the bowels of a drifting research ship, where the air tastes of sterilized metal and the ceilings hum with restless machines.
Most of the crew regards him with scientific detachment-a creature to be studied, contained, explained. But one human does not. She moves quietly, as if trying not to disturb the space. Her strange alien eyes hold hidden emotion that does not match the others' cold and clinical gaze.
Circumstance forces them together long before trust does. Their survival depends on shared glances, quick understanding, and unspoken bargains. Together they must navigate unkown terrian in order to return what was lost to them. And in the darkness that binds them, survival is not a matter of strength-but of trust in the one ally neither expected to find.
